Simone Inzaghi left Lazio three years ago and today his former side were there to witness him and this great Inter side celebrate their 20th Scudetto. Lazio on the other hand have had a rough season and were mathematically ruled out of the Champions League race yesterday with Atalanta’s victory but still tried their best to ruin the Nerazzurri’s celebrations.

Igor Tudor chose to change up his side slightly, first choice ‘keeper Ivan Provedel returned between the posts while Daichi Kamada played a starring role in a more advanced position in place of Felipe Anderson. The Japanese international broke the deadlock with a sweet strike from outside the box and it looked like Lazio would hold on to all three points but three minutes from time the Champions fought back.

Denzel Dumfries rose highest in the box and headed in the equaliser to ensure his side came away with a 1-1  draw and were in high spirits to lift the trophy. Lazio lose out on two extra points that could see Roma jump into 6th place this evening.

For the penultimate time this season here are our Lazio Player Ratings:

Lazio (3-4-2-1)

Ivan Provedel – 7.5

Started off with a solid stop to get back in the swing of things and he only got better from there, denying Federico Dimarco Brilliantly twice, then Nicolo Barella after the break. Fantastic return.

Mario Gila – 7

Realised Marcus Thuram would cause trouble and adapted to it impressively. Battled tirelessly to get the better of the Frenchman a few times. Popped up to stop attacks in a super showing.

Nicolo Casale – 6.5

Contributed one or two good blocks and interventions. Was booked for cutting out a  counter-attack. Calm afternoon but will miss the last game of the season.

Patric – 6

Approached the game with a safety-first mentality today. Inter got down his wing with ease however but he wasn’t caught out.worst moment was leaving Lautaro free at a corner.

Adam Marusic – 4.5

Played most of his game high up the pitch to annoy Inter. Forgot about Dimarco many times and then just didn’t rise to challenge Dumfries for the equaliser which undid any good work. Poor.

Matias Vecino – 7

Lots of passing and one-twos to create spaces that were badly needed for Lazio’s build up play to cut through the Nerazzurri. Really intelligent play in the center that dragged players about. Top quality.

Nicolo Rovella – 6

Well taken assist to set up Kamada for the opener. Solid without any shaky moments.

Luca Pellegrini – 5.5

Lautaro Martinez threatened to cause havoc but Pellegrini upped his game as the half progressed. Crossing could’ve been more clinical. Withdrawn for the more defensive Elseid Hysaj.

Daichi Kamada – 7.5

Top drawer performance this afternoon from the first minute. Pierced the lines many times and put the Biancocelesti in the lead with a lovely strike with his left foot. Himself and Provedel shone today.

Mattia Zaccagni – 5

Biggest moment in the first half was hitting the side netting on the opposite wing. Won free kicks but struggled to set the game alight.

Taty Castellanos – 5

Caught Inter cold and put away a chance three minutes in but he had strayed offside. A handful of others came his way but he never got on the scoresheet which was to thr detriment of his side come the final whistle.

Substitutes:

Elseid Hysaj – 6

Concentrated on plugging holes when they appeared and did a good job.

Matteo Guendouzi – 6

Found open spaces infront of the defence and brought some energy into a tiring midfield.

Felipe Anderson – 5.5

Hassled Inter but entered the game when the hosts were dominating meaning it was almost impossible to impact the match.

Luis Alberto – 5

Very few touches of the ball and ended up defending more then he would’ve liked. Got less then 20 minutes of playing time.

Danilo Cataldi – N/A
